What is he known for? : He is known for his skill at such a young age (<14), and now he is the world’s fastest violin player (flight of the bumblebee).

When Garrett was four years old, his father bought a violin for his older brother. Garrett was interested and soon learned to play as well. A year later, he entered a competition and won first prize. By the time he was seven, he was playing once a week in public. He studied violin at the Lubeck Conservatoire. When he was twelve, Garrett began working with the Polish violinist Ida Haendel, often traveling to London and other cities to meet her.
At the age of 13, Garrett recorded two CDs, appeared on German and Dutch television, and gave a concert at the house of the German President, the Villa Hammerschmidt, at Dr. von Weizsäcker’s personal invitation. He was offered to use of the famous Stradivarius "San Lorenzo", which is among the best instruments of the "golden period". When he was fourteen, as the youngest soloist ever, Garrett signed an contract with Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft. Aged 17, he played with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in concerts marking the 50th anniversary of India’s Independence. Garrett Continued to study at the Royal College of Music in London. He graduated from Juilliard in 2004.
